Chabad of Stamford is proud to join together with UJF and the LIFE & LEGACY program to introduce our latest initiative to help ensure Jewish tomorrows in our community.
Life & Legacy is an opportunity for anyone in the community to sign a non binding Letter of Intent, that after 120 good years in this world they will leave something to Chabad of Stamford in their will.
Life & Legacy is a four-year partnership program of the Harold Grinspoon Foundation that assists communities across North America, through partnerships with Jewish Federations and Foundations to promote after-lifetime giving to build endowments that will sustain organizations like Chabad of Stamford for the next generation and beyond.
Help work with us to pay it forward and leave a legacy for Jews in the future.
The Life & Legacy program is founded on the principle that all of us, regardless of age, wealth, or affiliation, can make an enduring impact. We can all be philanthropists (no matter at what level).Be remembered forever by Chabad of Stamford and the community with a legacy gift.

TESTIMONIALS
David Fogel and Gail Burman

Gail was born and raised in Maryland. After graduating from the University of Maryland, she was involved in genetic research and later worked in computer programming. After moving to Stamford, Gail and David met and married. They have one son, Joshua. Gail has always been pulled toward and proud of her Judaism. During high school her parents sent her and her sister on an exciting and unforgettable 6-week youth trip to Israel.Gail first discovered Chabad when she signed up for a Lunch and Learn class taught by Leah Shemtov. Leah’s enthusiasm and interesting classes were engaging and enlightening. While Gail did not previously have any connection to Chabad, Stamford’s Chabad community was so warm and welcoming, it began to feel like home. Celebrating holidays with Chabad throughout the year has deepened her love of her Jewish heritage, and she now feels she’s a part of the greater Jewish family.David was born and raised in Stamford, having his Bar Mitzvah at Agudath Shalom. He, too, had a 6-week trip to Israel during high school, an event that was spiritually significant. After getting his degree from Hobart College, he joined his family’s business, Karp’s Hardware, and assumed control until his retirement in 2022. David began to reconnect to Judiaism when he joined the Board of Directors of The Stamford Jewish Federation. As Gail became involved in Chabad he, too, began to feel the welcoming pull of the Shemtovs and the Chabad community. Holidays, services, studying with Moshe, and volunteer opportunities- it was so easy to get involved. And, seeing the impact Chabad had on the entire community made him proud to be Jewish. We consider Chabad and the Rebbe’s message to be like the Pied Piper of Judaism. “Find and draw in Jews wherever they may be, physically and spiritually. All Jews are important.”. Following the dispersions Jews have experienced over the millennia, Chabad gathers us together and reunites us again. Chabad welcomes us all.We are blessed to have found such a vibrant Jewish community and want to see it continue to flourish. We feel fortunate to be able to make a legacy gift that will invest in our strong Jewish community today and help ensure its success in the future.
