B MITZVAH PHILOSOPHY
The Bar or Bat Mitzvah is much more than a ceremony - it is about who we are as Jews. Our focus is on experiencing the joy and depth of being Jewish. The ceremony is only one part of that. The training and preparation for the Bar/ Bat Mitzvah reflects that as well, as students are taught about what it means to be Jewish, and as they are given time to ask and reflect on their becoming a B Mitzvah with the Rabbis and teachers with whom they study. For more information please email RabbiMoshe@stamfordchabad.org or click below

Bar Mitzvah Ceremoney
A Bar Mitzvah can be celebrated in many formats, the main ceremony is learning to don Tefillin and to be called to the Torah, most Bar Mitzvah boys learn to read some from the Torah as well.
Jewish men wear Tefillin every weekday from when they turn 13, the Torah is read every Shabbat, Monday, Thursday as well as holidays and Rosh Chodesh.
Many families want to make the main celebration on Shabbat and may choose to do it several months after the 13th birthday, it is best to also make a smaller ceremoney on the weekday when the Torah read closest to the Jewish birthday (find your Jewish birthday here).
